The Department of Theatre & Dance hosts several special programs and outreach that offer arts experiences to the community and other populations at ASU and the region.

Appalachian Young People's Theatre (AYPT) performs for young people and has been touring shows to schools in western North Carolina since the seventies.

The Appalachian Dance Ensemble is the student-performing group of the dance program. They have a concert each year featuring faculty and student work.

Faculty emeritus Frank Mohler's Theatre History page is not a program, but we are certainly proud to promote it as an outstanding resource in the educational theatre research field.

We also have several year 'round and summer experiences in the arts. This includes our Pilates program, and Cre8tive Drama web site, summer classes and performances for all ages.
